Hi,
I have done some reading on the new term “Trusted Computing” (TC) these few days. The world is getting more and more scary, I would say. Yesterday, in pirates’ world, you can simply burn a copy of vertabrim CD. Today, you still can, with slightly Digital Rights’ Management implemented, required to do some software cracking before you can use it. Tomorrow, the industry is implementing the “Trusted Computing”, aiming to use hardware limitation to limit your devices. Imagine, when your TC-enabled Notebook can stop you from burning a propietary programmed, and automatically contact your local police department about this via your TC-enabled network device or telephone.

Basically, “Trusted Computing” does not mean the industry is going to start trusting comsumers, but the complete opposite. They are here to take away your (the consumers’ ) rights, while protecting it’s members’ rights (commerical companies).
Here are a list of the members of Trusted Computing Group: https://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/about/members/
Now, as consumers, learn to start defending your rights. Watch this intro Video:

Now, you are given a choice, to protect yourself.

Trusted Computing implemented by a small chip in PCs does not support “reporting” to any external body. All it does is check the state of the client and can be beneficial as it can check for rootkits for example or prevent unauthorized parties from accessing private networks. There is no communication from the hardware enabled by Trusted Computing. TCG itself is not providing any type of DRM tools or applications.
It has yet to. But it will never. Because it shall be gone soon.
