Dear Sir
I am impressed by the efficiency of the Department of Computer & Information Systems (CIS) in Singapore Polytechnic (SP), in carrying out it’s duty in maintaining the IT Infrastructure of SP.The fact that your staffs take feedbacks and suggestions seriously show that their commitment in providing IT infrastructure to staffs and students to the best of their ability.
Sometime last year, I wrote to CIS regarding the wireless access point signal failure at the clubhouses below food-court 4. Within a few days, I receive a response from one of the staff in-charge, and was told that the problem has been rectified. They have fixed the problem, and by then most of the clubhouses there were able to access the wireless internet properly.
Few months later, I submitted another request to CIS regarding a similar problem. This time, its was a wireless access-point blind spot in level 1 of Student Affair Centre (SAC). Your staff made the effort to come down to SAC to test out the wireless access there. I also got a response within a day saying that they would be working with SAC to install a new wireless access point to solve the problem. Although this problem has yet to be fully resolve, I really appreciate the effort and time spent by your staffs in addressing this.
Recently, due to the large number of notebooks connected to the campus wireless during curriculum time, the network traffic has been seriously slowed down. The average downloading time was brought down to nearly 1kpbs. Your staff responded to this issue quickly by controlling the bandwidth usage while at the same time increasing the bandwidth limit. The wireless access speed at centralized area like Food-court 4 as been tremendously improved.
Thus, the efficiency and commitment of your staffs are commendable. I hope your department will continue to provide such high quality service to the student and staff of SP.
Thank You.
Yours Faithfully
Lam YongXian
Final Year DIT Student.

I must agree with you.
I emailed CIS last week when I encountered a little problem with connecting to some FTP servers and they were fixed on the day.
3 cheers for them!
