Remember the Soviet Union? The once most powerful nation in the world — which the United States fears most — is now coming back to haunt the NATOs. With its economy improving and the state gaining more political power, there is no doubt that a power that of Soviet Union will soon return to challenge the power todays — existing United States, coming European Union and ever growing Communist China. It may mean the revival of the long feared cold war — at least to the NATO powers — it may also be the new bless to the balance of international politics.

Scientific Satellite
According to Pravda.ru News, Russia just launched a new scientific satellite from Kazakhstan in collaboration with Chinese scientist. This happens after a Russian-built satellite crashed into and destroyed a Japanese satellite 8 days ago.
Resuming Soviet-Era Long Range Nuclear Bomber Patrol
This is perhaps the most popular event concerning Russian which happened recently, and covered by BBC News. British Royal Air-force posted a picture of a RAF Tornado fighter jet shadowing an old Russian Bomber around British airspace. These patrols continues to enter NATO’s airspace since then. Although the United States were unshaken — saying that Russians are merely flying some ‘old-toy’ — many Western nations have been alarmed.
Intercontinental Ballistic Missile
Guardian.co.uk News reported earlier this year that Russia started testing its new intercontinental ballistic Missile, which are capable of breaking through the United States missile defenses.
Russia, yet a shadow of former Soviet Union
Today, many see Russia’s military might and political power as being shadow of the Former Soviet Union; but how long can this perception last? Political situation among former Soviet Republics are changing. Russia could rise again, together with China and India; but what makes Russia a different from them is that fact that, Russia has all the technologies and equipments that the 2 never had — those which even the United States once feared.
Russia, the old Empire is back, although now under a different banner — of capitalist and democracy — will change the world once again.
