It does not matter how much effort you put in, what make you famous is how you perform on the stage.
This is very similar something i learn from programming. During my FYP last semester, my external-client at i2r once told us this: Especially in GUI programming, what impress people is what they can see. It does not matter how many hours or days you spent to make a complicated logic work, because to them, it is just a button click.
