About one month after the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and two month after the Malaysia’s Securities Commission (MSC), declared alert on the Empire of Sunshine, the Straits times reported on the empire few days ago.
Sunshine Empire is a Multi-level marketing company, based in Toa Payoh HDB Hub, marketing a revolutionary concept of its own investment scheme and product. Since it’s establishment, it recruited around 20 000 investors. The empire market itself as part of an international association, the Empire Group Alliance, with framework and economic development span across major cities of Asia-Pacific. According to its official website, the empire seek to prove network marketing’s nobility as well as to benefit its member in every aspects of life.
According to The Straits Times, the Commercial Affairs Department has started investigating the empires’ business practice. It also described the empire having marketing regulated financial products without approval from MAS. The financial credibility of the empire is also questioned. Due to this, the Imperial President of Sunshine has issued a response (PDF) in attempt to justify his company’s position.
It is still unclear how the investigation may turns out, although the situation seems very depressing on the empire’s side.

If i’m not wrong their MLM scheme = $12k up front, so $12k x 20,000 members = $240mil
What I heard was that their merchant rate varies from 100+ to 10 000+, so I guess it really depends. Like for poorer people have economic rate while for richer one there are first-class rates. Returns are proportional to one’s contribution. An interesting fact is that the thing which keep people around is surprisingly not solely the returns, but the amount of exposures the company expose their employees to. Quite an interesting business model, although personally I am (still) skeptical about it. Therefore I better not say too much, since I have yet to do any serious investigation. Let’s see what the authorities have to say.
